The class will cover concepts such as:

The class will cover concepts such as:

Violin tuning according to Indian style.

Introduction to carnatic(South Indian classical music) covering various aspects like Scales, Cycles etc.

Introduction to Sliding playing technique (gamakas) Fingering technique.

Bowing modulations , micro tonic notes(half notes in gamakas).

Musical compositions, creative music, rhythmic and non Rythmic improvisations.

Covering all these topics for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.

Concept of Indian rhythms and Konnakkol
The class will cover the concepts:t

Introduction to Indian rhythms.

Exploring concepts of talas composition.

Mohra, Mukthyas.

Application of Indian compositions on drums and other percussions.

Explaining the language of rhythm called Konnakol.

Demonstration of the Khanjira and it's playing techniques.

Indian practice techniques for rhythms.

Concepts of Carnatic harmony with Piano
The class will cover concepts such as:
1. Tools to create a global rhythmic approach synthesizing jazz, clavé concepts and Indian rhythmic ideas
2. Additive rhythms; approaching improvisation over a left-hand rhythmic pattern
3. Playing with subdivisions and groupings
4. Scales, modes and ragas: similarities and differences
5. Ragas as chord-scales
6. Practical ideas for approaching harmony in raga-based music
7. Finding familiar chords within a new mode/raga
8. Demonstrating the applications of all of the above in Lakkshya compositions and arrangements
9. Tips and strategies to lean and notate carnatic compositions
10. We'll study and learn a section of one of the Lakkshya pieces together
